The End of an Era

Postby Dworz on Mon Apr 06, 2009 8:59 pm

It's my sad duty to inform you that after nearly three years as a raiding guild, the Archaic Legion will be closing the doors to its grand guild hall for the last time. From a humble start in Zul'Gurub through both hard times and great success in the Burning Crusade to clearing the current raid content, we've had a bumpy ride but always come out on top with a wonderful set of people.

Due to member loss and loss of leaders, we cannot keep this up any more. I want to extend my personal thanks to everyone who's been a member at any point through all this time and to all the friends of the guild.

The Archaic Legion goes Shaman-only!

Postby Dworz on Wed Apr 01, 2009 6:55 am

In order to get some change in the guild, we've decided to go Shaman-only! We've urged our current members to reroll shaman, but in the process it's likely that we'll need to recruit new players, especially Shaman Tanks.

In order to fit in better, we'll also be moving to the new RP realm Frost Shock.

Been slacking

Postby Dworz on Wed Jan 14, 2009 10:21 pm

We've been slacking with the updates, haven't we? Well, Naxxramas Heroic is now clear, and we killed Sartharion although we seem to have forgotten to take a picture in what has become a reliable Legion tradition. Here's some snapshots of Sapphiron's corpse and Kel'Thuzad's demise however -- fireworks included:

Naxxramas cleared, Sartharion down.

Postby Xzar on Tue Dec 02, 2008 10:15 pm

Today, the Archaic Legion ventured forth once more into Naxxramas and slew Sapphiron and Kel'Thuzad.

Afterwards we headed to the Obsidian Sanctuary to slay Sartharion, but we forgot to take a picture of him.

Naxxramas half-empty

Postby Dworz on Sun Nov 23, 2008 10:19 pm

After a first raid on Naxxramas (10-man), Archaic Legion has now cleared all of Spider wing, all of Plague wing and Instructor Razuvious. An extremely well executed raid, thanks to everyone who showed up!

Anub'Rekhan:

Grand Widow Faerlina:

And in the eagerness to move on, we apparently forgot to take a picture for Maexxna. Oh well...

Noth the Plaguebringer:

(did we forget a Heigan picture too? damn)

Loatheb:

And Instructor Razuvious:

Not bad for a few hours in a new instance!

The Archaic Black War Bear Cavalry

Postby Dworz on Sun Nov 23, 2008 2:07 am

The Archaic Legion today led a raid with other of our Horde friends to be the first on the server to complete the For the Horde! achievment, for the first Black War Bears. Over a series of raids ending with an epic end battle against many alliance defenders in Ironforge, we killed all four Alliance leaders.

Here's an image of the first raid charging over water into Stormwind Harbor:
Image

And of course, the Cavalry nicely lined up on their new mounts in a strategic position in Dalaran:
Image

I'd like to thank everyone who joined us for this, and congratulate everyone on a job extremely well done.

Oh, and for those who weren't allowed onto the last raid... well, if you pay attention to what you're doing in a raid rather than watch TV, you'll have a better chance at being accepted for future raids. ;)

Illidan the Nerfed dies

Postby Dworz on Sun Nov 02, 2008 11:13 pm

We couldn't just leave it, could we? Well, even though the content has been nerfed to the point of silliness, we had to finish it off, so we went in and cleared the place in one off-raid. Here's the result:

Closing the chapter

Postby Dworz on Tue Oct 14, 2008 11:33 pm

So, with a final raid on Illidan, the Archaic Legion closes it's chapter on raiding in the Burning Crusade. We got him to 50%, which I can only call outstanding considering we only had one night of attempts. We're now taking a break until Wrath of the Lich King.

I think this is an appropriate moment to look back at what we've achieved the last months, and marvel at the performance we've put up. Everyone in the guild has done absolutely great, and I'd like to especially thank everyone who showed up for the long haul trying to get Illidan, including some friends from out of the guild who came in to replace members who had to leave.

Thank you all, and see you in the cold north :)

Shift of rule

Postby Dworz on Mon Oct 13, 2008 10:54 pm

I'm happy to announce that there's been a shift of rule in the Black Temple! The Illidari Council has been replaced by the Archaic Council.

A big thanks is in place for all those who showed up on such short notice. The Illidari Council died on our second night of attempts after a mere 3 hours total.

Website downtime, recruitment

Postby Dworz on Fri Sep 26, 2008 2:06 pm

The web site had a 24 hour downtime due to a connectivity issue, sorry about that. It should all be fixed and back to normal now.

In other news, we've now opened recruitment again for a number of classes. See our Current Class Demand post if you're interested in applying!

Gurtogg Bloodboil down

Postby Dworz on Sun Sep 21, 2008 9:13 pm

After a few tries tonight on Bloodboil, we got our first kill after an awesome display of healing power and good reactions from everyone. Here's a nice photo of it:

After that we got our second Reliquary of Souls kill nicely wrapping up the raid by unlocking the door to Mother Shahraz. Exciting times!

Archaic Legion raid tactics are now public!

Postby Dworz on Thu Sep 04, 2008 1:09 pm

The raid tactics that have been used to great success by the Archaic Legion are now available for anyone to read. Check out the Raid Tactics forum.

These are tactics that we've used successfully. All constructive critisism is appreciated, but do note that it's meant to contain one highly specific strategy for each fight, which may not match the one your guild has been using. Some of this information is extremely hard to find in other places (like Black Temple trash guides), so enjoy!

Postby Dworz on Tue Sep 02, 2008 9:35 pm

Some ugly talking heads with an attitude have now been forced to yield the loot they so defiantly guarded. Awesome work to all the legionnaires involved in this kill, that happened on the first time we ever reached Essence of Anger.

Kael'Thas is no more.

Postby Lethania on Sun Jul 13, 2008 9:02 pm

After some hard times wiping and not really getting anywhere, Dworz remade the tactics, posted them on the forums and we gathered all our strengths and went into The Eye to meet this terrible foe. After almost 5 hours of raiding, we finally managed to defeat him, and our reward, well. See for yourselves.

An Archaic War Bear

Postby Dworz on Tue Jul 01, 2008 8:07 pm

Today a group of ten legionaires completed the full Zul'Aman timed run! An [Amani War Bear] was awarded to Psykewne for his hard work in getting our tactics together and leading the run to victory. Here's a picture of the gang that pulled it off:

Dead bosses everywhere

Postby Dworz on Mon May 12, 2008 7:27 pm

Well, it's been a bit quiet lately, but that doesn't mean we haven't been busy! To revisit the good old days, we went into Molten Core for a laugh last week. Since the Archaic Legion only did 20-man raids before the release of The Burning Crusade, I guess this counts as a first for us. Anyway, here's Ragnaros :D

Image

Thanks to everyone who attended, it was a blast :)

Then we decided to go visit our old friends the trolls of Zul'Aman, which resulted in us leaving the place completely cleared. Hex Lord Malacrass says hi:

Image

And of course, Zul'jin sends his regards:

Image

Then, last night, we ventured onwards into the Black Temple. High Warlord Naj'entus just topped the ugly-meter, so we just had to rid the place of his face:

Image

And finally we decided to show Supremus that volcanoes are so last year.

The Archaic Alliance

Postby Dworz on Tue Apr 01, 2008 9:54 am

Since the grass is of course greener on the other side, it's been decided that the Archaic Legion is switching factions! We'll be forming the Archaic Alliance on Moonglade, a gnome-only guild (exceptions can be made for Female Night Elf Hunters). Members are expected to start levelling their gnomes as soon as possible (10 bonus EPs are awarded for pink hair).

The raid plan has been updated to reflect this change.

So, on our second week of adventures in Serpentshrine Cavern, we've one-shotted both Hydross and Lurker. The brave Legionnaires then swiftly moved on to Morogrim Tidewalker, where after some initial confusion about who heals who and who lifetaps when, they waded through hordes of ugly Murlocs to kill the even uglier Morogrim.

Congratulations to everyone on a well executed first-time first-kill again. And of course, someone had to snap a picture of us all messing up his hairdo:

Regarding scamming.

Postby Hávar on Mon Dec 31, 2007 3:51 pm

Scamming is something that's not tolerated in this guild and is something that will lead to an immediate removal from the guild without any exceptions. It will also lead to a report to the GMs so that the items can be restored to the rightful owner and so that the scamming party will get his punishment.

We apologise for the fact that someone like this has been seen on Moonglade with <Archaic Legion> under their name and we'll do anything in our power to compensate the scammed party.

We have a reputation to protect and we will go to great lengths to keep it intact. We also wish to keep good relations between us and other raiding guilds on Moonglade.

Karazhan groups up and running

Postby Dworz on Tue Dec 18, 2007 11:15 am

We've now completed our transition to running two separate groups in Karazhan each week, as proved by group 1 yesterday that cleared the instance in around 3 and a half hours. Worth mentioning is a Netherspite kill with a healer disconnedted for around half the fight unable to log back on, and a Prince kill of only 9 people since another healer had a total connection failure and couldn't get back on. Nice work everyone... now group 2 has a target to beat. Also, congrats to Greipur for more epic items than he previously had blues, or something :D

Archaic Legion defeats Karazhan

Tuesday 4/9 was a glorious evening for the Archaic Legion. Price Malchezaar succumbed to our might and shortly after Nightbane was defeated as well. This was the third raid we tried Prince and it was the first time we raided Nightbane. The glorious ones were Ballo, Dworz, Ghosterberry, Hávar, Jetr, Rastur, Trelekus, Xzar, Zai, Zhaku.

Great work everyone.

The rumours are true! The Archaic Legion has risen out of the ashes to once again do battle for the Horde.

Some news about officers, senators and raid signups

Postby Dworz on Sat Mar 17, 2007 9:26 pm

There has been some changes in the structure of the guild.

First of all, we'd like to congratulate Xzar on his promotion to Officer in the guild.

Second, Hasseth has agreed to step down from his Senator rank to Officer as he's not playing as much anymore. We still aim for a 3-person senate, but currently have no candidate for the this place.

Also, it's been decided that in order to not end up in a situation where a raid has no leader, senators will be guaranteed places in raids. This priviledge comes with the obligation to actually lead the raids. Since we don't want anyone to think this is a reaction to anything about current raids, this will not apply to any raid that already has a signup post.

Temp forums are here

Postby Dworz on Mon Jan 29, 2007 3:41 pm

I just merged all the posts from our temp forum into this one... they're not all sorted correctly with regards to posts done later, but that shouldn't cause too much problems I hope.

Downtime

Postby Aoede on Sat Jan 13, 2007 5:05 pm

Sorry for taking the server down for 1½ day. I fried the PSU of my regular computer playing wow and in my desperation I stole the PSU from the server. Well, new PSU bought, server got back what belongs to it. Everyone happy or something like that.

Changes in the news thread.

Postby Aoede on Tue Dec 05, 2006 1:33 am

You can no longer post replies in the news thread, discussion on any news that might show up here (before the real forums are up again) will take place somewhere else, like for example in the "Chat" forum for example, but that is just a suggestion.

Welcome, Silver Twilight!

Postby Dworz on Tue Oct 17, 2006 10:06 pm

I'd like to say a warm welcome to our new members from the Silver Twilight, who decided to all join our guild.

Also, I should mention that we've found a bug in the signup here, which means that your race/class may be messed up when you sign up to the webbpage. To fix this, just go into your profile and set the correct values.

RP forum

Postby Dworz on Tue Oct 17, 2006 8:59 pm

We now have a roleplaying forum. The thought behind this forum is that you can post your character background there, as well as discuss any other storylines you want. This forum is open to anyone, so you can invite others to roleplay there, even if they're not a member of the guild!

Welcome to our new webpage

Postby Dworz on Fri Aug 18, 2006 11:27 pm

We now have the web page up and running, and the problems with DNS we had the previous week should be resolved. As you may also note, we now have a register link again

If you're already an archaic legion member, go ahead and register (using the in-game nick of your main character!) and then tell one of the officers (in-game or via PM here), and we'll give you access to the private parts of the site.
